Anzac Day 2020.

ANZAC Day is coming on the 25th April (Saturday). It is a time to reflect upon the sacrifices made by those New Zealanders and Australians who endured the horrors of war in our past.

At dawn on Saturday, if it were normal times, we would gather in crowds - thousands strong - and stand silently in cool morning light to remember the fallen.  But this Saturday will be different.
A special Anzac Day programme will be shown at 11am on TVNZ 1 or TVNZ On Demand.

The red Poppy flower has come to be an ANZAC symbol of the terrible loss of lives. It refers to the flowers that grew on the graves of the soldiers who did not survive the war. It is found in poetry as well, most famously this poem called "In Flanders Field" by Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae:
